Saul Zaentz Sues Miramax-Disney (Again!) Over The English Patient Profits

Thatlegendary movie producer Saul Zaentz is litigious is nothing new. Today he’s suing Miramax and Disneyfor breach of contract alleging he hasn’t seen enough profit from the 15-year-oldBest Picture Oscar-winnerThe English Patient. He’saccusingthe studios of blatant self-dealing and manipulation and mistating the movie’s revenue by millions in order to enrich itself — but not Zaentz. as well as deceptive and unfair accounting practices in connection with the movie. The lawsuit was filedtoday by Lavely & Singer’s Marty Singerin Los Angeles Superior Court. But here’s the thing: this isn’t the first time Zaentz has done this. He sued Miramax and Disney over pretty much the same stuff in the same court over the same picback in 2006. And it was Lavely & Singer who filed that lawsuit, too. (Did they just Xerox today’s complaint?) That firstscuffle was dismissed in 2008. In this latest legal battle, Zaentzalso is seeking $20 million in damages — same as before. Of course, the Weinsteinsowned Miramax when the film was released but now it’s Disney’s problem because Zaentz claims the Mouse House promised to be good for the dough.of course,Disney doesn’t own Miramax anymore. What a mess.

Person of Interest's Michael Emerson likes playing morally ambiguous figures.Fall TV: Obtain the lowdown about this season's must-see new showsAs Lost's Ben Linus, he performed a scrumptious cocktail of villain and hero. And despite the fact that his Person of great interest character, shady billionaire Mr. Finch, expects to create the planet safer, the mystery surrounding him and the machine has us wondering: Is Finch a real good guy?Thursday's episode (9/8c, CBS) may shed some light about them. Once the machine kicks the ssn of the teen that has been dead for 2 years, Finch needs to question the machine's infallibility. Signal some revealing flashbacks to some more youthful Finch who talks about your building from the machine having a friend (Brett Cullen, who, oddly enough enough, performed some other named Goodwin on Lost.)"We have a look at pre-injuries Finch," Emerson teases. "He would be a more normal guy - a far more happy-go-lucky... sure-of-themself, better person, the industry great contrast towards the type of more dark monomaniacal character that he's in our day."Take a look at our listing of TV's most sexy crime martial artists! What triggered the modification? Emerson states it's a mix of Finch's injuries and losing a substantial part of his existence. "Together with getting a broken body, I believe he got despair - he got rage," he states. But Emerson, who loves to be stored at nighttime together with the crowd, states he's unsure in the event that person bakes an appearance within the flashbacks. "He's people in the existence within the backstory, but he does not have anybody in our story," Emerson states. "I believe there's something being held back for future episodes."But Finch comes with John Reese (Jim Caviezel), an old CIA special forces operative that Finch hands-selected to become his partner in high-tech vigilantism. However the odd couple's relationship will quickly fracture, because of Taraji P. Elaborate spend games and ploys need to be introduced to deal with.InchSearch Person of great interest? Election for this within our Fall TV Recognition Contest! If such measures are essential to avoid the careful eye of police force, how then can Emerson reason that he's playing a great guy? "I do not think he's greedy or self-serving or includes a lust for energy, unless of course a lust to become an avenger for justice is really a type of energy madness," Emerson states. "I believe he way to do good, but clearly he's working in ways that's outdoors what the law states. His behavior is ethically and legally questionable. The edges are actually fuzzy."Quite simply, Finch, a minimum of for the time being, is Ben Linus 2..It appears amazing that whenever his Emmy-winning turn among Lost's most-loved figures, Emerson wasn't immediately grabbed up by another TV series. "You do not get as numerous offers as you may think because I believe people believe that you're inundated with offers," Emerson describes. "Consequently, there's a time of a mysterious idleness. Cheers & Jeers: ABC Bites Off Greater Than It Might Chew

Scott Porter You don't need to tell Scott Porter the show like Friday Evening Lights - the football drama that won Emmys, a Peabody and inspired a catchphrase ("apparent eyes, full heart, can't lose!") - doesn't plainly frequently. He already knows. "It absolutely was a lightning-in-the-bottle moment of miracle with Friday Evening Lights which i understand will have the ability to never do that again. To behave starkly different, but nevertheless attempt to capture that same type of miracle making and own a personality was great," Porter states. "I desired a show to be capable of call my own, personal again." Fall TV: Have the lowdown relating to this season's must-see new shows Porter's second chance comes because of Hart of Dixie, The CW's new drama undertaking a town slicker physician, Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson), whose career forces her to move south where she encounters alligators, Southern belles together with a captivating lawyer named George, carried out by Porter. "George can be a leading guy which is definitely an initial personally,In . Porter states. "I like just of George. He's just this kind of solid everyman but males have to become pals with him and ladies need so far him. He's a pacesetter and he's a bit of the city hero." Sure, George and Zoe appear sensible on paper there's however one snag: George is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Lemon (Jaime King). The love triangular, as well as the small-town feel, in the series make Hart of Dixie like the early WB when family dramas like seventh Paradise, Everwood and Gilmore Women had not been transformed by series devoted to vampires of the underworld from the underworld, wizards and demon potential predators. Much like when Dawson's Creek and Felicity fans agonized over if you should pick Dawson or Pacey, or Ben or Noel, correspondingly, Porter states it won't be super easy picking who should finish tabs on whom. Have a look at our report on favorite TV love triangles "They're doing everything reduced inside the South. They not hurry with things which is exactly what we're going associated with this show. We're really apt to be to sit down lower in round the relationship between George and Lemon. Everyone else will have a way to finish track of at ease with them just like a couple and discover there's grounds they're together. It is not only a plot device," Porter states. "When the other shoe finally falls, and you also kind of uncover things utilizing their pasts, hopefully everyone else will most likely be rooting legitimate love.Inch The role of romantic comedy leading guy can be a large departure for Porter not only from his role as star quarterback-switched-paraplegic Jason Street on Friday Evening Lights, but from his recent gig round the Good Wife. Porter loved a recurring role round the CBS legal drama a year ago since the tricky, sneaky Blake Calamar, a personal eye/"fixer" most broadly noted for his season-extended competition with Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi) that involved a baseball softball softball bat, extensive vehicular damage as well as the finding from the series-changing secret. "Blake's role round the Good Wife actually was just like a tool - just like a blunt-pressure object, as it were - to break into very hard outdoors of Kalinda and to obtain the audience more mounted on her. Within the finish throughout your day, he wasn't a personality who was simply there immediately which he wasn't a personality who was simply ingrained because world," Porter states. "In my opinion [designers and executive producers] Robert and Michelle King which i both understood that his narrative will have to finish to date because this season goes. There's however pointless he can't return in the much different way." Have a look whatsoever from the familiar faces returning to TV this year Meanwhile, however, Porter is experiencing jumping in to the area of Bluebell, Ala., where Hart of Dixie is positioned. "The primary one factor that's like the Nobleman, with FNL executive producers Peter Berg and Jason Katims and Hart of Dixie creator and executive producer Leila Gerstein is every one has this kind of solid grasp all over the world in which the show lives," Porter states. "Every scene they write fits since they know very well what would exist and what wouldn't exist because world. Becoming an actor, you're feeling perfectly taken proper proper care of." Hart of Dixie premieres Monday at 9/8c round the CW.
